Oak Hill School - Administrative Offices

Description: Oak Hill School offers a twelve-month community-based education program for day students and residential students with severe multiple disabilities. The data-based education program places emphasis on areas of self-care, daily living skills, gross and fine motor skills, communication, functional academics, and vocational training. A Transdisciplinary Team approach is used: occupational, physical, speech and behavioral therapies are available either as a direct service or on a consultant basis. Teachers, nurses, assistive technologist specialist and therapists collaboratively design instruction using state of the art technology to improve the teaching and learning process in both the education and residential settings. Students attend Oak Hill classes located in public schools. Residential students live in supervised community group homes. This model promotes the inclusion of Oak Hill students in the life of their school and home communities.

THIS SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM IS OPERATED AT FIVE LOCATIONS:
  • 8 Main Street (located in Terryville)
  • 314 Osgood Street (located in New Britain)
  • Ann Antolini School (located in New Hartford)
  • Chippens Hill Middle School (located in Bristol)
  • Middle School of Plainville (located in Plainville)
  • Slade Middle School (located in New Britain)

Note: This program is operated by the Connecticut Institute for the Blind. This agency also operates group homes which accept referrals from school districts.
