Waterford Country School
Address: 78 Hunts Brook Road
Quaker Hill, CT, 06375
Description: The Waterford Country Schoolís philosophy is based upon the premise that every child has the basic right to live, be educated, and work within a community-based setting. The agency strives to meet the total needs of every child through the provision of a therapeutic Residential/Educational Treatment Program. The ultimate goal for each child is the successful transition into their optimal least restrictive environment.

The primary purpose of the Education Departmentís program is to provide each student with the academic, pre-vocational, daily living, and behavioral skills required for a successful transition into an appropriate community setting. A comprehensive, consistent approach to behavioral intervention and skill development in all areas is achieved through the Interdisciplinary Team approach which integrates the childís Education Program with the Residential and Clinical components to comprise a childís total program.

Waterford Country School offers a comprehensive educational program designed to service students primarily with disabling conditions of Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), Learning Disabilities (LD), and Educable Mentally Retarded (EMR). The education program serves both students who reside at Waterford Country School and day students who are referred by their home school boards.

This program accepts day students and residential students who have been referred by school districts. The program also provides services to residential students who have been placed by public agencies for other than educational reasons.
